The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has provided various benefits to human life, ranging from education and health to the creative industry. However, on the other hand, the advancement of AI also presents new risks in the form of deepfake technology misuse. Deepfake is an AI-based technology capable of manipulating a person's image, video, face, or voice, making it appear authentic and difficult to distinguish from reality. The misuse of this technology has the potential to trigger various forms of cybercrimes, such as defamation, fraud, privacy violations, and non-consensual pornography. This research aims to analyze the forms of deepfake misuse and examine the legal protection for deepfake victims from the perspective of Indonesian law. The research method used is normative legal research using statutory and conceptual approaches. The results show that Indonesia does not yet have specific regulations regarding AI, including deepfakes. Consequently, legal protection still relies on the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE), the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP), the Criminal Code (KUHP), and other related regulations. Therefore, the establishment of specific regulations regarding AI is necessary to provide legal certainty and more effective protection for victims of deepfake technology misuse.
