Abstract

Background: Maternal and neonatal complications remain a major health problem contributing to high rates of maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. One preventive effort is the implementation of smooth landing delivery management, which includes breathing relaxation during crowning, appropriate delivery position, and labor companion support. Objective: To analyze the effect of smooth landing delivery implementation, consisting of breathing relaxation during crowning, delivery position, and labor companion support, on maternal and neonatal complications at TPMB Renata and TPMB Siska Woro Dewi, Pasuruan Regency. Methods: This was a quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 70 women in labor selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using binary logistic regression with a significance level of 5%. Results: Breathing relaxation had a significant effect on maternal and neonatal complications (OR=5.71; p=0.007). Delivery position also had a significant effect (OR=6.83; p=0.003). Labor companion support influenced the reduction of complications. Simultaneously, the three components of smooth landing delivery had a significant effect on maternal and neonatal complications (p<0.001). Conclusion: The implementation of smooth landing delivery is effective in reducing the risk of maternal and neonatal complications. The application of relaxation, appropriate position, and companion support can improve the quality of midwifery care and provide a safer and more comfortable childbirth experience.
