Abstract

Switches are vital components in railway signaling systems, functioning to regulate track changes safely through interlocking mechanisms. Environmental conditions and high operating frequency require routine care and maintenance to ensure reliability and safety. This study analyzes the implementation of periodic maintenance of electric switches at Ciamis Station by reviewing the conformity of technical parameters measured against PT. KAI standards and related regulations. The methods used were a literature study of maintenance guidelines and direct observation of bi-weekly maintenance activities by PNC officers at the SINTELIS 2.10 Banjar Resort UPT. The technical data collected included track width, switch tongue width, drive motor current and voltage, and wedge size on switch types NSE, T84M, and BSG9. The measurement results showed that all studied switches were within the established standard tolerances. Thus, all switches were declared operationally fit. These findings emphasize the importance of strict periodic maintenance according to standards to maintain the reliability and operational safety of electric switches.
