This study aims to understand audience perceptions of the communication styles of The Catch Up Club podcast hosts: Agatha Pricilla, Ify Alyssa, and Sivia Azizah. The study employed a qualitative approach within an interpretive-constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with six audience informants selected through purposive sampling and one expert informant for source triangulation. The analysis applied Robbins’ (2009) stages of perception—selection, interpretation, and reaction—with Norton’s communication style concept as a supporting framework. The findings indicate that audiences generally perceive the hosts’ communication positively. At the selection stage, short clips on TikTok and prior familiarity with the hosts served as initial stimuli that encouraged audiences to watch full episodes on YouTube. At the interpretation stage, Agatha was perceived as dominant yet attentive in guiding the conversation and giving other hosts room to participate, while Ify and Sivia were perceived as expressive, spontaneous, and relaxed. These different styles were understood as complementary, creating conversations that felt warm, organic, and close to everyday life. At the reaction stage, audiences gained reflective lessons about friendship, careers, and self-development, and some adopted the hosts’ expressions or speaking styles. The study demonstrates that audience perceptions develop through selecting stimuli, assigning meaning, and responding to the communication styles presented.
