HUBUNGAN POLA ASUH ORANG TUA DENGAN KECENDERUNGAN AGRESIVITAS VERBAL PADA REMAJA

Adolescence is a developmental period characterized by rapid emotional, social, and psychological changes that may influence how adolescents interact with their environment. One problem that may emerge is verbal aggressiveness, such as teasing, insulting, using harsh words, and threatening others. Parenting style is one factor that may be related to this behavior. This study aimed to determine the relationship between parenting style and the tendency toward verbal aggressiveness among adolescents. A quantitative correlational design was used. The population consisted of 319 students in grades X–XII, with 177 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires. The parenting-style questionnaire consisted of 24 items, while the verbal aggressiveness questionnaire consisted of 12 items. Both instruments were tested and found reliable, with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients of 0.910 and 0.928, respectively. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation. The results showed a significant positive relationship between parenting style and the tendency toward verbal aggressiveness, with p = 0.000 < 0.05 and a Spearman correlation coefficient of ρ = 0.433, indicating a moderate relationship. Permissive parenting was the mos frequently identified parenting category, while verbal aggressiveness was most commonly found at a high level.
