HUBUNGAN FUNGSI MANAJEMEN CONTROLLING KEPALA RUANGAN DENGAN PELAKSANAAN SOP HANDOVER ANTAR SHIFT DI RS TK II R.W. MONGISIDI TELING MANADO

Abstract

Controlling management is a systematic process within organizational structures that enables supervision to achieve specific goals. Handover is a technique for delivering and receiving patient-related reports. Ineffective communication during handover may cause errors in continuity of care and result in patient harm. The objective of this research was to examine the relationship between the head nurse controlling management functions and the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP) for handover between shifts in inpatient wards.This study employed a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 80 nurses, with a sample of 20 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation sheets. Statistical analysis was conducted using Spearman’s rho correlation test at a significance level of α ≤ 0.005. The Spearman correlation test yielded a ρ-value of 0.028, which is smaller than α ≤ 0.005. This result indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) rejected, confirming a significant relationship between head nurse controlling management functions and the implementation of SOP handover between shifts at RS TK II R.W. Mongisidi Teling Manado. Head nurse controlling management in inpatient wards at RS TK II R.W. Mongisidi Teling Manado was generally categorized as good, and the implementation of SOP handover was also largely good. This study may serve as a reference for further development in nursing management and as additional literature on controlling functions in relation to handover practices.
