HUBUNGAN MEKANISME KOPING DENGAN TINGKAT KECEMASAN PADA PASIEN PRA SECTIO CAESAREA DIRUANG OPERASI MURNI TEGUH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TAHUN 2026

Background: Sectio caesarea is a major surgical procedure that often triggers a psychological response in the form of anxiety among patients prior to surgery, and unmanaged anxiety may affect physiological stability and the smoothness of the surgical process. The coping mechanisms possessed by patients are believed to play an important role in determining the level of anxiety experienced, making an understanding of the relationship between these two variables essential for improving preoperative nursing care. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between coping mechanisms and anxiety levels among pre-sectio caesarea patients in the operating room of Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital in 2026. Methods: This study employed a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 30 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. The research instruments used were a coping mechanism questionnaire and an anxiety level questionnaire (HARS), with data analyzed using Spearman's rho correlation test. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents had adaptive coping mechanisms (63.3%) and experienced severe anxiety (40.0%). The statistical test results obtained a value of r = 0.534 and p = 0.002 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship with a moderate strength of correlation and a positive direction between coping mechanisms and anxiety levels. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between coping mechanisms and anxiety levels in pre-sectio caesarea patients, indicating the need for appropriate nursing interventions to optimize adaptive coping mechanisms and reduce patient anxiety levels prior to undergoing surgery.
