Identifikasi Aktivitas Pemborosan pada Proses Perakitan Tube Bundle Heat Exchanger E-201-22AB Menggunakan Pendekatan Process Activity Mapping (PAM)

Meeting client demand is the primary goal of any company, one of which is through timely service. PT Intan Prima Kalorindo, a company worked in the production of heat exchangers, often fails to meet product delivery targets due to wasteful activities during the assembly of the E-201-22AB tube bundle heat exchanger. This study aims to identify types of waste occurring in the assembly process of the E-201-22AB tube bundle heat exchanger using the Process Activity Mapping (PAM) approach. The data collection techniques used were direct observation and interviews with operators and supervisors. The data were then classified using the PAM method. Based on PAM, 32 activities were identified, with the majority of operations at the workstations being value-added (VA) activities, totaling 2,647 minutes (66.3%), while non-value-added (NVA) activities totaled 1,040 minutes (26%) and necessary but non-value-added (NNVA) activities totaled 307 minutes (7.7%). The study results revealed two types of waste identified in the assembly process: defective products due to leaks during hydrostatic testing and waiting for materials. Further analysis using a fishbone diagram showed various causes of these wasteful activities, including human, machine, method, and environmental factors. Based on the identified root causes, various improvement recommendations were proposed to eliminate waste in the assembly process of the E-201-22AB tube bundle heat exchanger.
